Tallis Lab is a curriculum project started and developed by Soren Hawes, Assistant Headteacher. It has been delivered in Thomas Tallis school from September 2009 and I feel privileged to be involved in this project.

What is the aim of Tallis Lab? Our main focus is to develop creative thinking in students, to let them use their ICT skills and imagination in a way that is very much relevant to the times we live in and the challenges of the 21st century.
This course is constantly evaluated and is changing shape as we are open to feedback and, most importantly, to a full, positive and creative cooperation with students who are taking an active part in directing and modifying their learning activities.

Here are a few examples of my first attempts (in 2009) to be more creative with the internet and a bit more adventurous in using different web tools. I must say I wasn't aware of what's available online and most importantly how to make a good use of it. These couple of weeks back in 2009 when we were preparing for the delivery of the new course, gave me an opportunity to try some of the free, easily accessible and fun online tools for learning.

An introduction to my online identity by Voki. I haven't tried to upload a file with my own voice yet so I used the kind services of Moira.

The GoAnimate is a lovely site that you can get really stuck in and play for hours. My first attempt wasn't great. I had problems uploading photos, changing duration of the slideshow and various other difficulties but yesterday (26/08/09) I just used the choice of characters and scenes and that's what came out of probably and hour of playing.

Everyone who knows me well will say that I'm a bit of a freak when it comes to creating photo slideshows and little movies from photographs taken. Uhmm, maybe that's why I'm not such a great fun of Flickr because it's doing everything for you. It's good for instant sharing but I highly recommend playing with IMovie, FinalCut, Ulead or with an old but still doing its job well, WindowsMovieMaker.
This couple of pages was a quick play with some of the shots from my brother's family visit to London this summer. Scrapblog proved to be easy, fun and really enjoyable online facilty to create something a bit more funky from the photos you've got. Have a look...

I mentioned before that I'm not a great fan of Flickr but I've got a couple of photos from this weekend and I will use Flickr Photostream to share them with you.
This fine Friday afternoon on 28th of August 2009 we decided to pop into the Climate Change Camp and see for ourselves what it is like to take matters in your own hands and try to play an active role in the future of our planet.
I was taken by lots of things there, mainly by the warmth and openness of the people there - no barriers, just people united by one idea and one aim - they really do want to make an impact.
Will their action have an impact? I'm not sure but a belief is a powerful weapon.
And in the meantime I will sort out my recycling bin - collection on Tuesday!
